Enterprise vs. Lifestyle

Just a week or so ago, the Inc. 5000 for 2020 list was released. This is Inc.'s annual ranking of the top 5000 fastest-growing privately held companies. These companies reflect a 165% median growth with a total of over $209 billion in revenue. Of the 5,000, 3,149 companies were repeats on the list. Pretty impressive. Several of the people or companies that are shown on the list are those I know or follow. Perhaps they are a vendor for my note business, or there is some other association with me…See More

Finding the Common Denominator

was pretty good at math in grade school. About the same when I got to high school. But college was a totally different matter. Seems that algebra in high school was in a different language at college. Math 95 was not my strong suit. I remember on the first day, the "professor" wrote one simple equation on the chalkboard. We had about 10 minutes to figure it out. After 10 minutes, he said anyone that hadn't figured this one out probably shouldn't be in class. Since I was a PhysEd major and…See More

There are really 3 sides to a coin.

There are Really 3 Sides to a Coin.Which side are you on?You are likely receiving these emails because we have crossed paths at some point. Either through LinkedIn, a mortgage transaction, being part of the Portland Real Estate Investment Association (NWRIEA), or somehow we interacted through an email. However that happened, our common interest (excuse the pun) is we are…See More

Moving from Thoughts to Feelings to Actions to Results

T > F > A > RI am sure most of us have been working from home for several weeks, or teleworking as we call it in our office. I like the term teleworking, as this implies I don't need to be at home. As mentioned before, one of the concepts I like about note investing is that I can handle all the tasks anywhere in the world, provided I have access to the internet. While the majority of my day is spent attending to the issues of my day job, there are times I can attend to the issues with…See More

Small Fish in a Big Pond

I've never really played in the arena with a big advantage. I remember back in the days of being a mortgage loan officer, the companies I worked for never had the best pricing, never really had the best systems, and never had the best marketing. Everything I earned was due to my work, and the team I had around me. I had to do it the old fashioned way:…

Happy Independence Day 2020!!

Posted on July 3, 2020 at 4:59pm 0 Comments

This will likely be the most unusual Independence Day you will ever experience. Most of us will likely stay at home and our celebrations will be muted. But we cannot forget the freedoms our forefathers provided to us. To steal a phrase from one of my investors from earlier in the day, "it is worth observing, during this holiday weekend, the opportunity and freedom…
